London Ontario... a great place to live, work and play

London is located in the heart of southwestern Ontario on the Highway 401 corridor approximately halfway between Toronto and Windsor. The City of London has a population of over 350,000 and more than 450,000 in its metropolitan area.Londonskyline

With a very diverse and stable economy, London is home to many major corporations and institutions including Labatt's, London Life, EllisDon, Ford, Kellogg, Nestle, McCormick, Diamond Aircraft, General Dynamics, University of Western Ontario, Fanshawe College, etc, as well many other companies in the fields of healthcare, information technology, manufacturing, insurance and research.

The history of London dates back to 1793 when Lieutenant-Governor John Graves Simcoe wanted the "Forks of the Thames" to be the future capital of Ontario. The City of London was founded in 1826 and incorporated in 1840. Despite the wishes of Lieutenant-Governor Simcoe, Toronto became the capital of Ontario. (Personally, I think London would have been a better choice.)

After the end of World War II, London experienced rapid growth with the annexation of surrounding villages and land in Middlesex County. In the 1950's and 60's, several new neighbourhoods were built on the outskirts of the City. And London continues to grow with new housing developments primarily in the north and west ends of the City.

As a resident of London for over 30 years, I can tell you this is a great city in which to live, raise a family and work.
